Biography
Patricia (she/her) is a Canadian-Mexican photographer and storyteller currently based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Patricia's photography focuses on documenting stories that speak to the human experience, with a particular focus on issues that affect women and disadvantaged groups. Her work falls somewhere in the space between documentary and fine art photography and she often uses experimental approaches to photography to enhance her storytelling.
Curiosity is one of the traits that Patricia values most in life. If we approach the world with curiosity, we can approach it with empathy which leaves space for connection and learning.
Patricia has a B.A in Anthropology and an M.Sc. in Children's Rights in International Development. In her previous work, she specialised in working with children in conflict zones and she later moved to photography as a way to document her own changing identity as well as the world around her. She has lived and worked in over 18 countries in some of the most remote parts of the world. She is a mother to two young boys who have taught her so much more about the world than she could have imagined.
